Architects Without Borders is a humanitarian organization that creates development through architecture and planning
What’s on at Architects Without Borders
Here we bring you news about the work of Architects Without Borders. Stay updated on upcoming projects, new initiatives and opportunities in the organization as well as invitations to inspiring debate evenings and member events.
Our three programs
All projects are distributed within three thematic and mutually supportive programs: Construction & Development, City & Life and Knowledge & Communication. We advise and build for external development organizations, initiate our own development projects and host events focusing on the role of architecture in development work.
Construction & development
Here we design and execute high-quality buildings, outdoor spaces and interiors that contribute to local development, such as buildings for education, sanitation, social purposes and buildings that explore sustainable construction methods. The program supports development organizations at home and abroad with architectural services performed by our skilled volunteer teams.

By & Liv
Cities in the Global South are growing rapidly, and there are major challenges with slums, access to housing, health and mobility. In this program, we work with local partners on strategic development projects such as land rights, food security and sanitation for people living in slums. Along the way, we build knowledge about urban planning, policy frameworks and housing finance, and about slum social structures and decision-making processes.
Knowledge & Dissemination
Through our professional/social events Evening Without Borders, Project Nights, lectures, teaching and participation in fairs, festivals etc. we draw attention to development issues where architecture and planning can make a difference. We strive to support and further develop the architectural profession as a socially conscious and responsible profession.
