The project aims to build a cooperative dairy owned by dairy farmers in the Khovsgol area. The goal is to improve the farmers’ possibilities of producing and selling milk products of high quality.
A dairy cooperative including a dairy building will improve the farmers’ options of how they can sell their products and increase their earnings. At the moment, a lack of improved production and storage facilities means that the farmers can only sell their products during a short season. By establishing a dairy, the farmers can increase their productivity and revenue and move towards a financially safer future. The project supports traditional and sustainable animal husbandry and contributes to fewer farmers having to give up their existing livelihood.
DEVELOPMENT TARGETS
- Preventing and reducing poverty among traditional dairy farmers by improving their opportunities for producing and selling the dairy products
- Making sure that the value increase of the milk goes to the farmers through a cooperatively run dairy
- Improving the knowledge level in the cooperative through the education of local dairy producers
