Against the backdrop of the ongoing Syrian civil war, causing devastating destruction in urban areas, Architects Without Borders Denmark initiated a series of workshops and debates revolving around reconstruction and restoration of unique architectural value.
The project was born out of an inquiry questioning the role of the architect and planner in the reconstruction of the region, alongside how local architecture, historical and cultural reminiscences could be restored. The workshops took place at the school of architecture in Copenhagen and were led by Syrian architect, Wesam Al Asili in a dialogue with students from the school of architecture in Damascus.
