On 1 July 2008, the residents of Christiania had to vote either for or against the politically proposed plan for Christiania. In the run-up to the vote, Architects Without Borders DK provided assistance to Christiania’s internal development group’s exhibition in the Grey Hall to improve residents’ ability to decide on the future architectural expression.
We aimed to contribute to the diversity and social cohesion in a continuously changing world by pointing to spatial features and future opportunities based on the area’s characteristics. By nature, we live in and around buildings. The differences between us as individuals are ways we work to influence civil society and decision-makers, raising awareness on the built environment and its impact on our living conditions.
