We will be building a biocenter, which is a bio-gas producing, off-grid sanitation unit, including communal spaces. This building typology was originally developed for Kenyan slums, and as part of the project Kenyan experts will learn our Ugandan partners to master this technique.
The project will also establish a local cooperative organisation that will ultimately own and operate the biocenter, and serve as a dialogue-partner regarding the future of the settlement. The project is being realised in collaboration with National Slum Dwellers Federation of Uganda and ACTogether Uganda. The project has received additional financial support from Dreyer’s Fond.
