This time, we will search for future cities in the present, become familiar with youth activism and green public spaces in Nairobi, as we bring you on a journey to the “Green Cities South of Sahara.”

Morten Nielsen is an anthropologist working internationally on sustainable urban development – and stand-up comedy. Morten has a background in interdisciplinary projects that focus on sustainable urban development and participatory exhibition-making, as well as fieldwork project ranging from Mozambique to Brazil. Morten has worked with community leaders in poor neighbourhoods, and with research on housing and urban planning.

Rasmus Bering and the Copenhagen-based NGO Dreamtown work to create physical spaces with and for youth, and to enlarge the space for their participation across cities in Africa. With a focus on slums, informal settlements, and low-income neighborhoods, Dreamtown develops green, creative, and safe spaces in partnerships with young urban activists.
